NoteCached Privacy Policy

~/apps/notecached-privacy

NoteCached is a private notes app. This policy explains what data is collected, stored, and shared — which is almost nothing.

What We Collect

Nothing.

NoteCached has no account system, no login, no analytics, and no telemetry. No data is ever transmitted to us or any third party. NoteCached cannot comply with legal requests for your data because we never have access to it.

Your Notes

All notes are stored locally on your device and encrypted before being saved to disk. The encryption key is tied to your device and is never shared with anyone, including Apple or us.

If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, your notes may be included in that backup as encrypted data. Apple cannot read this data, and neither can we. The key to decrypt it never leaves your device.

What Leaves Your Device

Nothing leaves your device automatically. The only way data leaves your device is if you choose to use the Export feature, which creates an encrypted file you save yourself.

Keychain

NoteCached stores your vault encryption key and optional PIN hash in the iOS Keychain with the ThisDeviceOnly protection class. This means these items are never included in iCloud backups and cannot be transferred to another device.

Third-Party Services

NoteCached uses no third-party SDKs, analytics platforms, crash reporters, or advertising networks.

Children

NoteCached does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since it collects no data at all, it is suitable for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here.
